I think we don't talk enough about the music in this film. The soundtrack is incredible and Jon Brion made the characters so endearing. The theme in the scene in the first scene is a reflection of Joel. The soundtrack tells the film as well as the images and you just have to listen to it to understand the story.
I think my favorite scene is the first part of the film when Joel is talking in his journal. "I'm not an impulsive person. I guess I just woke up in a funk this morning."
Also, how does Clementine manage to be so endearing without having said a word yet?? The scene in the cafe? On the train platform?
I don't know if it's a green flag or a red flag to love this film so much. Maybe I'll think about it and develop a theory one way or another to find out.
